After about 13 years of working as an editor for various publications in New York City, I gave up my professional career to stay home with my two beautiful children. While I enjoy being a mom (mostly), the trials and tribulations that these two human beings put me through daily are enough to test the patience of a saint! And I am no saint. I’ve spent the past four-and-a-half years struggling to find my way back to the autonomous, carefree woman I once was. My first step toward that goal came in June, when I took over as president of a local chapter of the International Moms Club. This role has introduced me to many wonderful moms, allowed me to flex my professional and creative muscles, and given me a whole new purpose! Most importantly, though, it’s motivated me to pursue my true dream: starting this blog. I love to write, and I love to make people laugh, so that’s why I’m here. Full disclosure: I tend to be too open, a little (OK, a lot) sarcastic, and honest to a fault. I love my kids to the moon and back, but they drive me crazy and I’m not afraid to admit it or write about it.

I love sunflowers. Their sunny, smiling faces speak to me of happier times, commemorating the most significant, most precious milestones of my life: Dating: My second date with my husband, when he stopped suddenly at a NYC street vendor on…

Lately I’ve been doing a lot of behind-the-scenes maintenance work on my blog (tagging and categorizing) and in the process, I noticed how infrequently I write about my son. I was initially surprised by this because he is my sweet…

I had a terrible dream last night. This is significant because I rarely dream, and if I do, I never remember what happens, not with any clarity anyways. But today, I remember. My family are standing somewhere on the beach,…

Breaking Bread, And Tradition

You see this pasta bowl? It’s a symbol of my family’s durability and commitment to celebrating each day as if it’s our last. This thought dawned on me last night as I was preparing dinner. It was pasta night at…

Remember when I admitted I’m a glutton for pie? Well, turns out I’m also a gorger for banana cake. There’s just something so traditional, so comforting, so homey about it, although I must admit I’m willing to try pretty much…

The Road Map

If I could have a road map for one aspect of parenting it would be for teaching self-love and self-esteem. I’ve struggled with these concepts all my life, but they take on a whole new dimension when viewed through the…

Hakuna Matata! We’re not exactly living in a time of no worries, but there’s never a wrong time to dish about Walt Disney World. Am I right or am I right? Oh yeah, Disney, baby, that’s where my head’s at…

The Simplicity Of Saying I’m Sorry

Wanna know the one aspect of parenting in which I’ve become an expert? Apologizing. I’m ashamed to admit it but I scolded—scratch that, I flat out yelled at—my daughter last night after she deliberately disobeyed me when I asked her…

I spent Friday afternoon in the swimming pool with my daughter, just the two of us. I didn’t plan it that way, but it was the best afternoon I’ve had in a while. She was in a rare mellow, calm,…

About This Site

This blog isn’t solely about parenting. Yes, I’m a stay-at-home mom but I wear many other hats: wife, sister, daughter, chef, baker, chauffer, personal shopper, party planner, cleaning lady, customer service and marketing manager for a local insurance agency, the list is endless. I live so much in my own head and writing is my therapy. I’ve been craving an open, honest, and nonjudgmental outlet for those thoughts, and this blog is it. Why not just keep a journal? Because knowing there are other moms out there going through my same experiences lifts my spirits and motivates me to stay strong. And if I can help and maybe even inspire these women or make them laugh while fulfilling my dream, well, then, that’s a wonderful thing!
