Poetry challenge day 8: Write a “spirit of the stairs” poem. I’ve never heard of this before but apparently, it’s a way to capture that moment when you think of all the things you should’ve said AFTER the moment has…

Poetry challenge day 7: Write a universal poem. Life burns us all sometimes, but that doesn’t mean we must lie down among the ashes. Broken A little boy drops from a wall He hurts his right-side ankle A week goes…

The Right Time

Poetry challenge day 6: I’m not using a prompt today. Instead, I penned a free-verse poem based on a passing comment I heard recently about planning something for “the right time.” The Right Time A silky, smooth black dress In…

Poetry challenge day 5: Write an invention poem. This one could be about something that doesn’t exist (I’m not that creative), something that already exists (much more my speed!), an inventor, or any other interpretation we may have. I’m not…

Welcome To The Carbo Load

Poetry challenge day 4: We’re supposed to take a song title, change one word, and make the new title that of our poem. So, in true ’80s fashion—because I’ve been in an ’80s mood since watching the amazing Cobra Kai!—I…

The other day I came across a poetry challenge on a writing website I follow. The goal is to write one poem every day during the month of April. I realize it’s still March, but the leader of this initiative…

The Wall

It’s cold and lonely here Inside this sheltered sphere I’m surrounded, trapped No walls to disappear Beneath this frank façade Inky clouds close in, attack Whisper of illusions Behind my beaten back The world is moving on now So fearless…

Cancelling “Cancel Culture”

Cancel culture. That’s the phrase being bandied about these days. Logically I know what that means, but I decided to look up the definition anyways. Here’s what Merriam-Webster says: The practice or tendency of engaging in mass canceling (see cancel…

About This Site

This blog isn’t solely about parenting. Yes, I’m a stay-at-home mom but I wear many other hats: wife, sister, daughter, chef, baker, chauffer, personal shopper, party planner, cleaning lady, customer service and marketing manager for a local insurance agency, the list is endless. I live so much in my own head and writing is my therapy. I’ve been craving an open, honest, and nonjudgmental outlet for those thoughts, and this blog is it. Why not just keep a journal? Because knowing there are other moms out there going through my same experiences lifts my spirits and motivates me to stay strong. And if I can help and maybe even inspire these women or make them laugh while fulfilling my dream, well, then, that’s a wonderful thing!
