Grass dancing in the wind

I took my kids on a picnic in the backyard today. (Before you give me the credit I don’t deserve, I got the idea from a close friend, who did the same with her young daughter earlier this week. Thank…

Pumpkins at Harvest-Time

Oh, Autumn, how I love thee. Whenever October rolls around something magical happens to me … the clean, crisp air; the kaleidoscope of colors; the aromas of pumpkin spice, cinnamon, and harvest-time; the early sunsets and ancient evenings; the giddy…

“Art is to console those who are broken by life.” ― Vincent van Gogh My family and I spent this past Sunday in Manhattan–we had tickets to see the Vincent van Gogh exhibit. Watching his paintings come to life was…

The Painter

we live in a world of colors

Been thinking a lot about judgment, misunderstanding, and differences in opinion these days. There’s certainly plenty of each to go around and it’s so … tedious. I wish we could all just support one another, have compassion for one another,…

Harvest Moon, Sept. 20, 2021

On my morning run yesterday I was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the Harvest Moon (thank you, husband, for being on top of these things and keeping me informed), which, of course, inspired me. I saved this poem…

Contemplation of one's place in the world as time goes by

“Writing helps you heal yourself. I think if you write long enough, you will be a healthy person. That is, if you write what you need to write.” — Alice Walker, author Here’s to writing what we need to write.…

A tree that's broken but still standing

May 3rd. That’s the last time I posted to this blog. So much, and yet so little, has happened since then. Summer was a struggle for me this year, and it tanked my inspiration and creativity. Thankfully, though, my beloved,…

My poetry challenge is over, yes, it’s true, but I couldn’t seem to help myself. Writing anything more right now feels … daunting. Probably because I have so many things bottled up inside my head and no idea how to…

April 2021 Poem-A-Day Challenge, Day 29 For this penultimate prompt of my poetry challenge, we’re writing an evening poem. My interpretation is a little … out of the box, maybe? Not sure why my mind went here, but that’s the…

About This Site

This blog isn’t solely about parenting. Yes, I’m a stay-at-home mom but I wear many other hats: wife, sister, daughter, chef, baker, chauffer, personal shopper, party planner, cleaning lady, customer service and marketing manager for a local insurance agency, the list is endless. I live so much in my own head and writing is my therapy. I’ve been craving an open, honest, and nonjudgmental outlet for those thoughts, and this blog is it. Why not just keep a journal? Because knowing there are other moms out there going through my same experiences lifts my spirits and motivates me to stay strong. And if I can help and maybe even inspire these women or make them laugh while fulfilling my dream, well, then, that’s a wonderful thing!
