I had intended to post my first Christmas blog of the season yesterday, but every time I went to push “publish” it didn’t feel right, and I think it’s because I didn’t give Halloween its due. I love the spooky…

Happy birthday, A Momma & Her Pen!

Today marks the two-year anniversary of A Momma & Her Pen. Holy shiitake mushroom sauce! Two years?! I can’t believe it—where has the time gone? The older I get, the faster the years seem to fly by and that terrifies…

The Cold Is My Shield

October 20, 2020 Sabrina MannoWhims & Words2 Comments on The Cold Is My Shield

“There was an odd comfort in the cold, as if it were a shield.” I spend a lot of time reflecting on the “whys” of life. They are critical to understanding, to learning, to growing. And if there’s one thing…

The other night my kids and I were sitting on the couch reading Highlights magazine. It’s our first issue and seeing it arrive in the mail made me all ooey and gooey inside, bringing me right back to my childhood.…

Editor’s Note: If one thing has become clear during these recent historical events in our country, it’s that many people don’t appreciate the concepts of “compassion,” “humility,” “loyalty,” or “solidarity.” A Momma & Her Pen believes wholeheartedly in supporting others…

One of the most awesome things about having kids is the amount of time and money wasted on food and meals. Man, oh man does that make my day, my week, my year! Apparently, I love it so much that…

My family and I recently discovered a grotto at a Catholic church not far from our home and we’ve taken to visiting as often as we can. I suppose that speaks to how much we crave prayer and answers and…

I love the symmetry, the ingenuity, the poetry of words—and how they marry to create the most vivid of pictures. But I also love when those words stir my passions because they are so perfectly reminiscent of the world in…

About This Site

This blog isn’t solely about parenting. Yes, I’m a stay-at-home mom but I wear many other hats: wife, sister, daughter, chef, baker, chauffer, personal shopper, party planner, cleaning lady, customer service and marketing manager for a local insurance agency, the list is endless. I live so much in my own head and writing is my therapy. I’ve been craving an open, honest, and nonjudgmental outlet for those thoughts, and this blog is it. Why not just keep a journal? Because knowing there are other moms out there going through my same experiences lifts my spirits and motivates me to stay strong. And if I can help and maybe even inspire these women or make them laugh while fulfilling my dream, well, then, that’s a wonderful thing!
