April 2021 Poem-A-Day Challenge, Day 7
Here are my takes on today’s prompt to write a villain poem.
My Enemy Is Me
A close, colluding confidant
That little voice inside
Chiseling away with tiny jabs
All confidence and pride
You’re weak and you’re afraid
Persecuting every day
Without a second of remorse
It’s always been that way
Perhaps it’s time to change the script
To hope and harmony
But first I must find peace within
Because my enemy is me
Villain
A deadly demon virus
Took hold so far away
It crept here oh so quietly
We prayed it wouldn’t stay
It racked our world
It stole our lives
But we’re back now, dammit
We’re so done with all that jive
