I’m seeing quite a few posts from people who’ve already put up their Christmas trees, lights, and holiday decorations. I applaud all of you! I have yet to do my own because, well, I think my husband might disown me. LOL. He is no Scrooge, but he already thinks I’m a little cuckoo for starting my Christmas Carol Celebration on Nov. 1 (I know he’s reading this and denying it but no one’s listening; their Christmas music is playing too loudly!).
I’m just kidding.
I haven’t suggested decorating for Christmas yet simply because I didn’t even think of it. Yup, that’s right, Miss Holiday Season herself didn’t think about trimming her storybook Christmas tree, hanging her outdoor lights (always colored), or creating her fireplace holiday village. In all fairness, we’ve been sick for the past week so that may have something to do with it. But mostly I’m just so used to waiting until after Turkey Day. There’s something warm and special and peaceful about waking up the day after Thanksgiving, listening to Christmas carols, and trimming our tree, when much of the rest of the world is out Black Fridaying everyone else. That’s our tradition, and if you read my “Holiday Stepping Stones” post, you already know how important those are to me and my family.
What I have been thinking about, though, is my annual Christmas movie list. OK, full disclosure: I’ve been thinking about my holiday movie list for a few months now. I just can’t help myself. We usually watch our first holiday special the week of Thanksgiving, which, shockingly, is almost upon us! So, I thought I would share my list of favorites with all of you. If there are others I’m not thinking of, or your favorite isn’t on the list, let me know. I’m always looking to add new Christmas goodies to our lineup!
Here’s our list, in no particular order:
