Bell Toll

Happy April Fool’s Day! No tricks from this momma, though; I think we’ve had our fair share lately.

I cannot believe we are already in April and Easter Sunday is just a few days away. We awoke here in Jersey to some soothing April showers (fingers crossed they bring May flowers!) and as we celebrate this weekend, I pray we all discover a sense of renewal, a sense of peace within ourselves to make the most of and delight in each new day. For me, that means finding the strength and courage to leap. I hope I’m brave enough …

Anyway, as I mentioned yesterday, today marks Day 1 of my April 2021 Poem-A-Day Challenge. Rather than follow the suggested prompt, though, I let the mesmerizing pulse of the rain inspire me …

Bell Toll

Raindrops drizzle down the window
Silver streaks against the pane
Pearly beads break up the monotony
As my tears they wax and wane

The pitter patter hypnotizes
Casts a simple spell
I wonder if I’ll ever smell the roses
Or only heed the tolling bell
