After about 13 years of working as an editor for various publications in New York City, I gave up my professional career to stay home with my two beautiful children. While I enjoy being a mom (mostly), the trials and tribulations that these two human beings put me through daily are enough to test the patience of a saint! And I am no saint. I’ve spent the past four-and-a-half years struggling to find my way back to the autonomous, carefree woman I once was. My first step toward that goal came in June, when I took over as president of a local chapter of the International Moms Club. This role has introduced me to many wonderful moms, allowed me to flex my professional and creative muscles, and given me a whole new purpose! Most importantly, though, it’s motivated me to pursue my true dream: starting this blog. I love to write, and I love to make people laugh, so that’s why I’m here. Full disclosure: I tend to be too open, a little (OK, a lot) sarcastic, and honest to a fault. I love my kids to the moon and back, but they drive me crazy and I’m not afraid to admit it or write about it.

I’m seeing quite a few posts from people who’ve already put up their Christmas trees, lights, and holiday decorations. I applaud all of you! I have yet to do my own because, well, I think my husband might disown me.…

The Sickness Blues

I complain about a lot of things when it comes to parenting and kids, but one of the worst things is sickness. UGH, just writing that word irritates me. Of course, no one enjoys being sick, but being sick as…

A Daughter’s Lesson

I’m learning a valuable lesson, thanks to my daughter. We all know it isn’t easy being a parent. We spend our days worrying over every small detail, second-guessing every decision we make, and hoping we don’t screw them up. One…

Pieces

Much like the leaves at this time of year, there are pieces of me scattered all over the Big Apple. Central Park, Union Square, Park Avenue, Wall Street, Columbus Circle/Lincoln Center, South Street Seaport, Times Square, Alphabet City. And many…

Turning Over A New Leaf

One year ago, almost to the day, I had intended to start a blog with this post, but several things stopped me: fear, anxiety, loss of confidence, the chaos that comes from having kids and running a household. I’m still…

About This Site

This blog isn’t solely about parenting. Yes, I’m a stay-at-home mom but I wear many other hats: wife, sister, daughter, chef, baker, chauffer, personal shopper, party planner, cleaning lady, customer service and marketing manager for a local insurance agency, the list is endless. I live so much in my own head and writing is my therapy. I’ve been craving an open, honest, and nonjudgmental outlet for those thoughts, and this blog is it. Why not just keep a journal? Because knowing there are other moms out there going through my same experiences lifts my spirits and motivates me to stay strong. And if I can help and maybe even inspire these women or make them laugh while fulfilling my dream, well, then, that’s a wonderful thing!
