On this Mother’s Day, I wanted to take a moment to say “thank you” to the beautiful, kind, caring, and selfless woman who gave me life.
I’ve always known that my mom—whom I endearingly call “Woman”—was a quiet rockstar. I say quiet because for as far back as I can remember, she never let on about the struggles, hardships, and challenges that I now know come with being a stay-at-home mom. I’m sure she dealt with her own demons at the time, as a woman and as a mother. What mom doesn’t? If you’re a mom, then you get it. You know what that means. And if you know that, then you also know how amazing and sacrificing and rare it is to keep all that inside, to stay silent, to never complain, and to ensure your children never know anything other than love, happiness, and peace. That’s the gift my mom gave to me, and I will forever be grateful to her for that.
So, thank you Mom. Thank you for my life. Thank you for the compromises and sacrifices you made for me. Thank you for teaching me what it means to be a mom and a woman. You’re the best that ever was and it’s an honor being your daughter. I love you.
I’m going to end this with a Haiku poem that I wrote for my favorite Woman:
A Mother’s Day Poem For Mine:
You are my idol
Thankful, loving, and patient
To be you I pray
