A Mother’s Nature

April 2021 Poem-A-Day Challenge, Day 22

Today’s challenge is to write a nature poem, but instead of the obvious outdoorsy type, I went in another more personal direction.

A Mother’s Nature

To love her children
With heart and soul
To bear their burden
With breadth of back
To protect their innocence
With fists and fire
To teach them humility
With guts and grace
To let them stumble
With blinded eye
To raise them up
On their own wings
To help them fly
Upon the sky
Then watch them soar
With a silent goodbye
